WEA Fringe Summer School

WEA Fringe Summer School with cast of Sweeney Todd

The Edinburgh Festival and Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world. For more than 30 years the WEA has organised a Summer School to enable our members and the students to get the most out of this great annual celebration of the arts.

The WEA Fringe Summer School comprises attending a mix of shows especially selected from the Fringe programme  by our tutors, workshop discussions to preview and review the performances and meetings with some of the witers, directors performers and leading personalities involved in the Fringe.

WEA Edinburgh Fringe Summer School Class of 2012 Students said:

"Enjoyed discussing the shows, getting other people's view on them...Meeting the performers/directors of the show.  The energy, pace and fun it of it."

"Made me appreciate the richness and variety of the the Fringe.  Made me fall in love with Edinburgh a bit more!"

"I have experienced different genres than I would normally go to and have the confidence to try new plays in the future.  Mike and John were excellent tutors and made it fun.  Thoroughly enjoyed the experience thanks!"

"The Fringe performers were very generous with their time and very open with their responses."

"I enjoyed the challenge of seeing some shows I might not have chosen myself.  I enjoyed the exchange of ideas at the discussions and learning from the contributions of othrs.  I particularly enjoyed meeting the various performers each following day and hearing their enthusiastic responses to our coments and the background to the planning, casting and performing of the shows, as wll as thier personal artistic backgrounds."

The next WEA Edinburgh Festival and Fringe Summer School will take place during August 2016.
